We are counting 30 members in the forum right now. That’s not bad. Posting is still low though.
I for one, would be extremely interested to see what you do, whether it’s just some simple crafts, shelters or whatever. You might feel that it isn’t worth posting, but you’re wrong. I often learn something from total newbies, because they often have their whole unique approach to it all. I think that accounts for most primitive skills practitioners.

Not having much to post, I’m posting a picture of the finished cordage. Why you say? Because a coil of cordage is beautiful in it’s own right.
I can pretty much guarantee a much more interesting post tomorrow.

I’ve been making about 3,5m of thin snare cordage from sinew this evening. Mouth twisting is the easiest way with sinew I find. Thigh rolling either has to be done wet (will be loose) or dry (it will slip off the surface), of reasons in the paranteces it isn’t a good option with sinew in my opinion.

As shown in a earlier post, there is a rockshelter close by the farm where I come from. We expanded on it a couple of years ago and built a chimney. During the course I ran in December I slept almost exclusively there.
I threw in a lot of spruce branches and a moose/elk skin to sleep on. The fire was just used to keep warm on dressing and undressing as I was slightly afraid of cracking the rock above. I can really recommend this type of shelter, pretty smokeless and totally waterproof. Make sure that the direction of the slate goes pretty much horizontally if you are going to use a fire in there though. And that there are no major cracks in the rock.
I’ll borrow the photos from you again Steve, thanks.
