Taking a Break

Published by under General

Thank you for your donation Ian. :-)

Sorry I haven’t posted for a while. I have been running a course and coming back I find myself in complete lack of inspiration.

My plan is to have a book finished by spring(ish). I’ll devote time to that in the coming months an will not be able to write much on the blog. It may be that I’ll post something every now and then though.

I’ll be moving back south in June and that is probably the earliest time you can expect regular posting here.

Thanks to all my readers and donators!

Chat on the Forum

Published by under General

Flashchat has now been installed and is seamlessly integrated with the forum. This way you can always see if there are some people in the chat from the forum and move back and forth between the forum and the chat.

Forum Update

Published by under General

Another forum update. I have added child categories to a few bords. It’s the Non-purist’s boards as I realised I might have alienated a large number of visitors because of my strict definition of the ones formerly made.

The intention is NOT to encourage any discussions of modern kit, but rather to allow posts where you have used metal tools and/or modern materials.

Don’t be afraid of the forum!

Published by under General

We are counting 30 members in the forum right now. That’s not bad. Posting is still low though.

I for one, would be extremely interested to see what you do, whether it’s just some simple crafts, shelters or whatever. You might feel that it isn’t worth posting, but you’re wrong. I often learn something from total newbies, because they often have their whole unique approach to it all. I think that accounts for most primitive skills practitioners.

Happy New Year!

Published by under General

In a few hours we enter 2008. Let’s hope we aren’t at the same time entering a rerun on 1929.

For the coming year I have lots and lots of plans, but all of them are pretty much out in the air:

  • 99% sure projects (nothing is a 100) are: New bow and full set of clothes for myself.
  • Pending projects: Earthlodge and a new spruce bark canoe.

Of course, I also need to get that book done. The first one will more than likely be a best of blog book with some new photos and elaboration on the articles.
